First, the poetry must say something about the human condition as observed by the poet. Does the poet in this case make these observations? The answer is yes. In fact, the author makes these observations in a rather unique job of bringing this out. In the poem “If she come here, I am already Happy” the author examines the condition of anticipation fulfilled. The idea that the anticipation is as sweet as the having is not new but one not often equated with love. Throughout the work the author is diligent in giving the reader viewpoints of experiences often taken for granted. Second, poetry must if it is to be considered important, must expose the inter-most recess of the poets soul leaving him naked before the reader who will understand them. Honesty in the emotional expression of the poetry therefore is an essential element but so often overlooked by poets today or even forsaken for political or literary correctness. This poetry leaves the poet open for criticism by those who do not understand and intimacy for those that do. While I do not believe Louis Maurice Young is a poet for everyone, his unique blend of repetition and honest approach to his subject matter will I feel appeal to those that can identify with him and will take the time to understand him. Third, good poetry leaves the reader with a sense of communication on an almost spiritual level. In other words poetry feeds the soul as well as the intellect. On the intellectual level Young does not insult us with verse so obvious that a child gets board with it. Instead , he forces us to think, and contemplate the meaning behind each and every word he spins off for us thus making even the most average reader reach for something higher to understand him. To Louis Maurice Young tries to connect with the most fundamental emotions of his reader. The words he uses are delivered in a manner that forces the reader to see past the emotional response to see into the soul of the writer. With each and every word he lays his very soul standing naked before his reader as if to say this is who I am and I am not ashamed . I have something to say for those who will listen and for those who will not I am still standing in tack and with a purpose. This is the strength of the poetry. He does not hold back anything. What we get is an open honest appraisal of Young’s energy and his view of life. This is good poetry. It is honest and not self-seeking.  ''Art Seemann '' AICW - '' The American Institute of Creative Writing ''
